Prologue Centre is a world in the modern age where the new inventions and machines of the era continue to expand. The inhabitants of Centre are known as Hulvans, and are, for the most part, a peaceful race. The Hulvans possess features that make them unique throughout the whole universe; these being their pointy ears and high level of intelligence. They also have immense creativity, which has led to their highly advanced technology and machines. In fact, the Hulvan’s machines became so great that they could reach space, even inhabit the three moons that orbit the planet. These moons being called Lunas, Vinskul and Misgill; laboratories up until recently inhabited all three. These laboratories were sponsored by the Xen Organization, an elite group that governs all of Centre. This organization watches over all the areas of the planet and has become its very core. The Xen Organization is divided into three separate branches; the military branch, the scientific branch and the government. While the military and scientific branches had their own affairs to look after, they are both supervised and controlled by the government. Back when the Xen Organization had just started the military branch wasn’t used that much, and the government was providing the scientific branch with money so that they could continue developing more sophisticated technology. Eventually, Xen managed to develop a means of traveling to the moons orbiting Centre. There they set up many bases and camps on all three; they used the moons to launch their studies and observations even deeper into space. Soon after, countless waves of scientists from all over flooded to these new laboratories in hopes of discovering a new planet with intelligent life forms. However, years began to pass by and nothing new was being discovered by the scientists. The hulvans were beginning to lose interest in space, and it was starting to appear as though they and their planet were alone in the dark corner of space. Xen, realizing that the laboratories were becoming a waste of time and money, discontinued funding to the labs and began shutting them down one by one. However, some scientists did not want to stop their experiments and began planning a revolt in which they would seal themselves inside the labs. The plan went into action when Xen had finished dismantling most of the bases and started on the laboratories; the scientists caused a meltdown that occurred in all of the labs. The Xen soldiers, not realizing that the meltdown was a ploy to get them out, retreated in horror and fled from the moons. Once they had left, the scientists sealed the entry ways so that they could never be disturbed by outsiders again. The scientist that led the revolt against Xen was known as Dr. Pyroski, a genius when it comes to genetics. Pyroski is the kind of man who would do anything to achieve his goals, that is why he convinced the other scientists to revolt with him. While at first everything seemed fine and each scientist worked on their own experiments, Pyroski began to slowly feel contaminated by their incompetence. He became claustrophobic and started to lose his mind, but this only seemed to increase his brain power. Finally, the doctor snapped and, while in secret, reprogrammed the securidroids and proceeded to kill the other scientists. After it was done, Dr. Pyroski began performing experiments using his knowledge of genetics and a plentiful supply of DNA samples; as for what purpose, no one to this day knows. He had been sealed up inside of his laboratories for weeks on end, performing his experiments that stemmed from the depths of the madness within his brain. Xen, angered by this mad man’s actions, decided it was time to carry out a mission to take the labs back by force. Operatives were being trained to infiltrate the laboratories and prepared for the zero gravity of the moons. They were fitted with special Xen battle gear, which consisted of black-armored padding that bore the Xen insignia. Their head gear covered their entire heads, except for a small opening around the mouth, and consisted of a thin, fiber optics visor in the front for sight. After a few days of training, Xen was ready to launch its operation against Dr. Pyroski. Upon touching down on Lunas, the operatives used an over ride program to open the seals on the base and forced their way into the base. As they made their way inside they encountered the same securidroids reprogrammed by Pyroski and were forced to fight them. As the fight ensued, it became apparent that they could not destroy the securidroids with their available weapons so they decided to try the same over ride program they used earlier. The group decided to split up with half of the team going to draw the droids fire, while the other half started to run the program. Pyroski’s programming was very complex, so the over ride was taking longer than they expected and the team that was sent as a distraction were killed before the program finally finished. The remaining operatives dismantled the securidroids and then proceeded inward. After passing through more sealed areas, they arrived at the central sector of the lab where they found a scene of horror and chaos. Pyroski stood there, with a long, white lab coat that was stained red from blood. His hair was distorted, with individual strands sticking out in every direction, and the light from the computer screens glared off of his glasses. Amongst him was the dozens of bodies that belonged to the scientists he had killed, and he could only smile at the soldiers. “No, all these people…How could you?” one of the operatives stuttered. “Heh…” “Stop smiling!” another one of the operatives yelled, then threw up his gun and fired at Pyroski. The bullets only seemed to bounce off though, and Dr. Pyroski’s grin only grew wider. “You’re too late, he is finished…” Pyroski said coldly, and then he stepped over to one of the panels and activated the self destruct sequence. Alarms were beginning to sound, and the operatives tried to evacuate but there was no time. The base, and all the labs inside of it, exploded in a brilliant light and could be seen from Centre. However, just before the explosion two glimmering objects could be seen falling from the sky; one fell to a desert region of the planet and the other towards the ocean near the continent Lacardia. Following this incident, Centre began to see a radical change. Violent creatures, now referred to as the Retsnome, began to appear and attack people and cities. With this new threat, the Xen Organization took command and became Centre’s defense. They formed many units, each specializing in their own field of Retsnome. Another change that could be seen was the decrease in the technology of the planet. After the incident of the three moons, the hulvan’s began to fear how far they should go with machines and started to create less and less. Many of the hulvan’s started to leave their large cities and live in small, scattered villages. Xen tried its best to keep up with all of the smaller villages, but maintaining peace was becoming difficult. Due to these problems, the organization formed smaller groups to take care of any problems that arose between the villages. These smaller groups often only consisted of one person, but this one person was usually strong enough to settle any disputes. They are also used as Retsnome hunters when there is a need for them, and are very good at their job. However, there was one hunter who was better then all the rest, he was also the youngest ever accepted into Xen. At the age of six, he joined and has done nothing but work for Xen his whole life. His life before he joined the Xen Organization is a blur to him, since he can’t remember a thing from that time. It is now 22 years since the incident of the three moons, and 16 since the child joined Xen; the world has changed and so has he. Now in a dark room, deep in the Xen Organization’s headquarters sits the, now older, boy who joined Xen when he was six. He sits there rubbing his left eye where the symbols of flames spreading from it are etched into his skin, waiting for his next assignment. This is where the story begins, where the boy’s fate starts to unfold.
